Pregnancy Doula Support

As your birth doula I support you and your partner, if you have one, during pregnancy, labour and birth, offering continuity of carer (which is proven to be beneficial), supporting you with your birth wishes, providing information (if you wish) and guidance with comfort measures and pain relief options available to you. I can also help you with informed decision-making tools to help you decide what feels right for you. My priority is you and what you want and need to enable you to feel empowered during your birth, in any birth location or scenario.

What Antenatal & Birth Doula Support Can Look Like:

This list isn't exhaustive, we can talk about what is important to you and you can decide what you’d like me to focus on at each session.

  • Debriefing your birth experience - listening, exploring and unpacking your birth story.

  • Emotional Support for you (and your partner) during the delicate and vulnerable first weeks with a newborn baby.

  • Newborn Care Support, encouragement and reassurance around newborn care, understanding newborn behaviour and establishing breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

  • Practical help with preparing light meals e.g. breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks and light household tasks such as tidying, laundry, ironing.

  • Watching baby while you get some well deserved rest, have a bath or need some alone time.

  • Support with any older siblings while you have one-on-one time with your baby.

  • Signposting to evidence-based information and resources for subjects such as feeding or sleeping.

  • Signposting to local professionals and groups, e.g. breastfeeding counsellors, mental health support, baby sensory, baby massage and parent and baby groups.
